Angelo Ogbonna has taken to Twitter last night after his error nearly cost West Ham United in the Europa League clash with Backa Topola last night.

The 35-year-old centre-back has been a fine servant for the Hammers since moving to the club from Juventus in the summer of 2015 for around £8 million (Daily Mail).

He is still a very good defender but there have been signs over the past year or so that he is on the downward curve.
And last night was a real example of exactly that…
West Ham ace Angelo Ogbonna apologises to Hammers fans on Twitter after shocking error
The experienced Italian defender was at fault for Backa Topola’s goal last night. It really was painful to watch as he fell to the ground and Stanic raced clear to score.
However, Oggy making mistakes has certainly not been a regular occurrence. And he definitely doesn’t need to apologise to us. He felt the need to though, and posted a message to the West Ham fans on Twitter:
The harsh truth of the matter is that he’s coming to the end of his footballing career, so these kind of mistakes will probably start to happen more regularly.
And I really don’t think we will see Angelo Ogbonna play much for West Ham this season after his error last night, certainly not in the Premier League.
That said, he certainly didn’t need to take to social media to apologise to the Hammers fans last night.
We’re a family at the London Stadium and as long as you give everything for the shirt, we’ll stick by you. No sorries needed here Ang, we all love you.
