Marco Silva has warned not to forget about West Ham’s top four credentials, saying we’re a quality club who will be tough opposition for Fulham.

West Ham welcome Fulham to the London Stadium on Sunday with a real chance to record rare back-to-back Premier League wins.

A 2-0 win over Wolves last weekend alleviated pressure that had been building on West Ham boss David Moyes.

And the Hammers followed it up with a 1-0 win at Anderlecht to maintain a perfect start to this season’s European adventure.

Meanwhile Fulham, who have made an excellent start to life back in the top flight, were beaten 4-1 by Newcastle last time out.

The Hammers’ win over Wolves lifted them out of the bottom three. But victory over London rivals Fulham will see them rise up in and around their opponents in midtable.

Moyes insisted last week he does not see West Ham being involved in a relegation battle. Nor should they be.

The Hammers have competed for the European spots for the last two seasons.

In the 2020/21 campaign West Ham missed out on a Champions League spot by a solitary win.

And the Hammers spent more than twice as long in the top four spots than Spurs last term.

After spending £170m on eight quality signings in the summer, West Ham are hoping to challenge once again.

Now the Cottagers manager is firing a reminder about Fulham’s next opponents.

Marco Silva has warned not to forget about West Ham’s top four credentials, saying we’re a quality club who will be tough opposition.

Silva has absolutely raved about West Ham in a gushing assessment in his pre-match press conference.

“They are getting better,” Silva said about the Hammers pre-match.

“Two back-to-back wins, one in the Premier League and yesterday in European competition, giving them the confidence they needed. We respect them, their quality is clear. A team that is playing different competitions and can yesterday change nine players from the last game against Wolves – it shows the depth of their squad, the individual quality they have.

“It gives Moyes these type of solutions for him to change because he knows that they will play two games in four days, Thursday and Sunday.

“They signed very, very good players during the market, they spent a big amount of money as well, but some players have to adapt for the Premier League, even if they have high, high quality. But even without the best start I think everyone realises and recognises the quality they have, the individual quality they have.

“You are talking about a team that, the last few seasons, fought always to be in the European competitions. In some moments two seasons ago they fought to be sometimes in the top four of these competitions. In my opinion, what they are doing now was a matter of time for them, to get good results again, because the quality is there.

“They haven’t changed many things from the last few seasons – same manager, same players, and they have very good quality in their squad. It will be a tough one for us. It’s a very good atmosphere, a good stadium, to play football against a good side, but we want to enjoy it, embrace the challenge, and go there to fight for the three points.”
