West Ham and Newcastle United have spent big to bring two top class Brazil stars to the Premier League in the shape of Paqueta and Bruno Guimaraes.
The arrivals, both from Lyon, have captured the imagination of Hammers and Magpies fans.
Indeed Paqueta recently revealed that it was Newcastle’s star Guimaraes who helped convince him to join West Ham in the summer.
The Newcastle midfielder made the move to England six months earlier when he signed on as the marquee arrival at St James’ Park.
Paqueta recently told The Times how Guimaraes spoke very highly of West Ham before he made his record move to east London.
West Ham have tightened their grip on Europa Conference League Group B after making it a perfect three wins from three so far with a 1-0 victory over Anderlecht on Thursday night.
The result came courtesy of a lovely goal from substitute Gianluca Scamacca – beautifully setup by fellow sub Paqueta.
One particular moment of brilliance from the West Ham star has gone viral.
A long cross-field pass was pinged out to West Ham’s Brazil star on the right touchline. And he sprang in the air before crossing his legs and controlling the pass dead with his heel on the opposite side.

Paqueta has put a picture of his mid-air backheel control on Instagram.
Now Newcastle and Real Madrid stars have joined Rice in responding to the Paqueta post on social media after his insane skill for West Ham.
“Good victory to give us confidence to keep evolving!” Paqueta said on Instagram alongside the photo and heart, Hammers and praying hands emojis.
“Glory to God always!”
Newcastle star Guimaraes responded with heart emojis and simply said: “Partner.”
Real Madrid star Rodrygo added: “Good people.”
The West Ham man’s best friend in football and Rodrygo’s fellow Madrid teammate Viniscus Jnr added: “I saw it in 👀 lol.”
His Hammers teammates Alphonse Areola, Emerson and Angelo Ogbonna all added their own comments.
As did West Ham skipper Rice who simply said: “Resebaaaaaaa (recipe).”
This is sure to be just the start of some magic moments to come from Paqueta in a West Ham shirt.
