The Mail’s extraordinary claim about West Ham board fears will leave fans baffled as David Moyes clings on to his job.
For many Hammers supporters, the biggest surprise about the club’s current situation is the fact Moyes is still the manager of West Ham going into another huge six-pointer against Everton.
Performances – or lack of them – and statistics are stacked high against the Scot and have been for some time.
The Hammers have lost 20 of their last 37 Premier League games. There have been just 13 wins in the last 46 league games.
And the Wolves defeat means West Ham go into another six-pointer against Everton with no win in seven Premier League games.

Whatever way you try to dress it up there is nowhere to hide for Moyes.
He is under increasing pressure with a host of managers, from Rafa Benitez to Sean Dyche, being linked as replacements.
Moyes claims he is not worried about losing his job. And perhaps that is one of the many reasons behind the horrendous complacency that has clearly been allowed to take hold in the team for over a year now.
This malaise is nothing new and stretches back to December 2021, after which West Ham’s performances and results dropped off a cliff.
Fans could understand Moyes being given some extra time to turn things around after what he had achieved in the first two years back at the London Stadium.
But even some of the manager’s most loyal backers have now conceded he should have been relieved of his duties some time ago.
So The Mail’s extraordinary claim about West Ham board fears will leave fans baffled as Moyes clings on.
According to a report on the West Ham management situation from The Mail the owners have had serious concerns about Moyes and the team since the run-in to last season.

“In truth, Moyes’ position has been under scrutiny way before (Mark) Noble’s return (as sporting director),” The Mail reports.
“While the climax of last season will always be remembered for their run to the Europa League semi-final, concern grew behind the scenes over their domestic form.”
The owners probably assumed – and clearly hoped – the £170m spend in the summer would arrest that slide.
But it hasn’t. And despite the fact West Ham’s form has deteriorated even further since last season’s run-in, Moyes somehow remains in the job.
Although the reason why may have become clear after a new revelation from a West Ham insider.
Surely if the board had concerns during last season’s run-in, everything they have seen since will have confirmed those fears.
And they are just as culpable as Moyes and the players by their inaction.
