West Ham ace Declan Rice has suggested that he is very keen to play Champions League football.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has been a standout performer for the Hammers for the past two years or so.

It seems as though Rice has reached a new level all together this season though.

His fine form has not gone unnoticed either. Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City are all allegedly very keen to sign the West Ham ace (The Express).

The problem for those clubs is that Rice will not come cheap.

David Moyes recently suggested that the chance to sign Dec for a ‘£100 million bargain’ has long gone (Eurosport).

It will probably take a bid in excess of £120 million to prise Rice away from the London Stadium. He is still under contract with West Ham until the summer of 2024 and we have the option of extending that deal by a further 12 months.

Has Declan Rice just dropped a big Champions League hint?

We would all love Rice to stay with the Hammers for the remainder of his career…obviously.

If we fail to finish inside the top four this season though, who could really blame him for wanting to join a top four club in the pursuit of trophies and eventually, greatness?

It would hurt if he joined Chelsea or Manchester United, sure. Man City would be a great move for Dec though, if he does end up leaving.

The good news for West Ham fans is that we may be able to keep Rice! Dec spoke to reporters and highlighted his ambition to play Champions League football, as quoted by Football.London:

“I want to play in the Champions League. Hopefully the club can get in the Champions League and my ambition of course [is] I want to play in the Champions League as well. I feel like I am young and I want to keep pushing. Hopefully, the club can get in the Champions League and we can keep pushing.”

Rice has bagged one goal and three assists in 13 Premier League games for West Ham so far this season. During those appearances, Dec has averaged 2.7 tackles, 1.8 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.2 dribbles and 0.7 blocks per match (Who Scored).

The 22-year-old has made 57.1 passes per game on average and has recorded an incredibly impressive completion rate of 92.2% (Who Scored).

Dec is a seriously good player, arguably the best in his specific position in the Premier League, if not world football.

It his clear that West Ham will have to match his ambition, however, if we are to keep him at the London Stadium.

Hopefully GSB and Daniel Kretinsky back David Moyes to the hilt in the January transfer market.

Because as top four finish may well be needed in order to keep Declan Rice in East London for at least one more season.
