Harrison Ashby surely will be given a chance by West Ham United Manager David Moyes sooner rather than later.

The 20-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United during the summer transfer window (The Daily Mail), but he ended up staying at the London Stadium.

Ashby is out of contract next summer though, so something has to give soon.

There have been worrying rumours doing the rounds that he will not commit to a new contract with West Ham.

The 20-year-old is a truly elite young talent and Moyes and the board should be doing absolutely everything in their power to keep him at the London Stadium.

Now is the time for Moyes to be bold and show some real faith in Ashby…

Harrison Ashby needs big West Ham chance, he’s more than good enough

Vladimir Coufal has been truly awful over the past 6-9 months.

The 30-year-old has regressed badly and it could be argued that he isn’t even playing to League One standards anymore.

Signed for £5.5 million in 2020 (The Evening Standard), Coufal made a big initial impact at the London Stadium. He’s a shadow of his former self now though and is costing the Hammers dearly week in, week out.

Meanwhile, Ben Johnson has been suffering with injuries far too regularly.

It’s time for Moyes to be bold and give Ashby his chance.

The 20-year-old is a hugely talented young player and seemed to be set for a role with the first-team this season having been promoted to the senior squad by West Ham manager David Moyes.

That came after he showcased his unbelievable physical transformation during pre-season.

He has so much about him and has already proven that he is capable of mixing it up with seasoned veterans for the West Ham senior team.

Ashby is one of the brightest talents to be coming through the ranks at the London Stadium and he was in sensational form for the under-23s last term.

The 20-year-old clearly has all of the attributes needed to make it at the very highest level.

If he continues to work hard and applies himself properly, both on and off the pitch, the young right-back will have a very bright future ahead of him in the game.

The only way we will find out whether Harrison Ashby is good enough to be playing regularly for West Ham is if David Moyes gives the young right-back his chance.

And Coufal’s poor form, combined with Johnson’s injury problems, means that there is no better time than the present to throw Ashby in to the starting XI. Let’s see what he’s really made of.
