West Ham United centre-back Nayef Aguerd is allegedly ahead of schedule in his recovery from an ankle injury.

The Moroccan joined West Ham from Rennes in the summer for around £30 million (Fabrizio Romano).

Unfortunately for him though, he seriously injured his ankle during pre-season and subsequently underwent surgery on said ankle.

Losing him for a prolonged period of time was a huge blow for David Moyes and it forced the Scot back into the transfer market.

The West Ham boss brought Thilo Kehrer to the London Stadium, and as good a signing as the German undoubtedly has been, we have still really missed Aguerd.

The 26-year-old posted a picture to his Instagram account recently showing him working hard in the gym.

There were hopes that Aguerd would return to action before the break for the World Cup out in Qatar. It appears as though that might not be the case though…

It looks like Nayef Aguerd is ahead of schedule and his recovery as well. We might not see him before the World Cup, but his injury is progressing quite nicely.

It’s great that the Moroccan is progressing well in his recovery from injury.

The thing to note here though is that recent rumours suggested that he could be available for selection before the World Cup.

It appears as though that’s no longer the case though.

The Nayef Aguerd injury back in July really was a big setback for him and West Ham. All we can do is hope that he returns in peak physical condition, whenever that may be.
