The boardroom walls are closing in on Hammers boss David Moyes claims a reporter close to the West Ham owners.

It was like Groundhog Day for West Ham fans as the Premier League resumed with the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal this week.

It was West Ham’s fourth loss in a row either side of the World Cup break and leaves Moyes’ side just two points off the bottom of the table.

A couple of memorable European nights aside, West Ham’s poor form stretches back a full year with just 13 wins in their last 43 Premier League games.

That has sparked intense speculation that the Scot could be axed from the Hammers hotseat.

Moyes has been publicly backed by majority stakeholder David Sullivan when speaking to Hammers News.

But yesterday a journalist claimed Moyes could be axed if West Ham do not beat Brentford at home on Friday night.

And the boardroom walls are closing in on Moyes claims a reporter close to the West Ham owners.

In an exclusive from Hughie Southon of Claret and Hugh, it is claimed Moyes is very much ‘on thin ice’ with the West Ham owners.

“Insiders have made it clear that the manager is on thinner and thinner ice following the four defeats with one describing last night’s (Monday) performance as very poor,” Southon writes on C&H.

“One told us exclusively after we had put the question: “Yes that has to be the case”.

“An early sacking most certainly cannot be ruled out according to one well placed Claret and Hugh source who claimed that to be the case whilst at the same time desperately wanting him to turn things around.”

Given Southon’s sources, this news has to be taken seriously by Moyes and the team.

It is looking increasingly like Brentford could be the manager’s final game if West Ham do not emerge with all three points.

Previously it was reported that Moyes had to get the team on 20 points by the halfway stage of the season.

After defeat to Arsenal that means two wins are needed from the next three Prem matches against Brentford and then fellow strugglers Leeds and Wolves.
