Ward-Prowse has been praised to the hilt by fans and pundits alike since swapping the south coast for East London.

And one look at his statistics this season makes you realise just how much of an impact he has made for West Ham…

James Ward-Prowse stats since joining West Ham will blow your minds

The 28-year-old midfielder has to go down as one of the best signings of the summer in the Premier League, if not the best.

In seven Premier League games for the Hammers, he has bagged two goals and three assists (Who Scored). He has three assists to his name in the Europa League as well!

During those seven Premier League appearances, Ward-Prowse has averaged 1.4 tackles, 1.7 interceptions and 1.4 clearances per game. He has made 39.7 passes on average per match and has recorded a mightily impressive completion rate of 90.6%. The 28-year-old has also made 2.1 key passes and two accurate long balls per game (Who Scored).

Those numbers really are hugely impressive and are evidence of the fact that he is the total package – far from just a set-piece specialist.

£30 million for the 11-capped England international now seems like an absolute bargain, and he’ll surely feel really hard done by that Gareth Southgate didn’t include him in his latest England squad.

The stats from James Ward-Prowse should have been enough on their own for Southgate to bring him back into the England fold. What’s important for him now though is to focus on producing the goods consistently for West Ham.

If he does that, Southgate will not be able to ignore him for much longer.
