West Ham linked Goncalo Ramos set the World Cup alight last night with a scintillating hat-trick for Portugal against Switzerland.
It is clear to see now that the Portugal international striker will be well out of West Ham’s reach though.
What a superb young player he is.

Portugal manager Fernando Santos produced a real shock last night when he dropped Cristiano Ronaldo for the 2022 World Cup last-16 clash with Switzerland, and decided to start Ramos through the middle instead.
And the 21-year-old Benfica hitman did not disappoint…
Goncalo Ramos hat-trick sets Qatar World Cup alight
The Portugal international is clearly a superstar in the making.
He scored an unbelievable hat-trick for his country last night – the first at the 2022 World Cup.
The young Benfica starlet looks like a real player. It’s such a shame that Moyes didn’t manage to bring him to the London Stadium in the summer.
He’ll now be worth at least double the £30 million that the Portuguese side were allegedly demanding for him six months ago.
Ramos has bagged 14 goals and six assists in 21 games for Benfica so far this season (Transfermarkt).

The Portuguese starlet has absolutely everything needed to succeed in the modern game.
He is quick along the ground, powerful, strong in the air and is a superb finisher – as he demonstrated out in Qatar last night.
The Goncalo Ramos hat-trick will undoubtedly lead to a clamour for his signature in the January transfer window and if not then, next summer.
It will now very much be a case of what might have been for West Ham. Ramos will be at one of Europe’s very biggest clubs this time next year, I have absolutely no doubt about that.
