Carlton Cole absolutely raved about Craig Dawson after the Europa League clash between West Ham and Lyon tonight.
The 31-year-old arrived at the London Stadium in October 2020 originally on loan.

The Hammers activated a purchase option we had on Dawson and we signed him on a permanent basis in the summer of 2021.
What a signing the no-nonsense centre-back has been for West Ham. He truly has made a massive impression at the London Stadium.

Dawson has gone from strength to strength since filling in for Angelo Ogbonna back in November. In fact, it’s a tad harsh calling him a no-nonsense defender.
The experienced centre-back has improved his range of passing massively this season. Whisper it quietly…Dawson is in contention for the Hammer of the Year award, there is no doubt about that.
Dawson proved yet again just how important he is for West Ham against Lyon in the Europa League tonight.
Carlton Cole raves about Dawson after West Ham win over Lyon
The ex-Hammer was a guest in the BT Sport studio for tonight’s Europa League quarter-final clash between West Ham and Lyon at the Groupama Stadium.
And Cole raved about Dawson’s display for West Ham against Lyon tonight, when speaking on BT Sport (Thursday April 14th, 20:54):

“Sheer determination, drive. Everything you need from a footballer. He’s a special player to have on that pitch. He’s the one who is going to lead that team to victory.”
Dawson scored the opener for West Ham against Lyon tonight and he was incredibly solid at the back alongside Issa Diop.
The 31-year-old had 30 touches and made one interception, four clearances and six blocks. He won two aerial duels and registered a 70% completion rate from 17 attempted passes (Who Scored).
What a signing he has been. What a player and what a man. Balon Dawson!!
It was truly superb stuff from Craig tonight in France. Dawson put in one of his best performances in a West Ham shirt against Lyon. And in doing so, he endeared himself to the Hammers fans even further still.
