West Ham United are allegedly eyeing a summer transfer window deal for Hellas Verona attacking midfielder Antonin Barak.

That’s according to a report from Corriere di Verona (print edition April 14th, page 12) who claim that the Hammers might have to pay up to €25 million (£20 million) in order to sign the Czech Republic international.

West Ham boss David Moyes has a lot of work to do in the transfer market this summer. In all fairness, the addition of another attack-minded midfielder is probably the last thing on the Scot’s priority list.

With Andriy Yarmolenko out of contract in the summer though, and Nikola Vlasic and Said Benrahma struggling for both game-time and consistency, perhaps the Hammers do need another attacking play-maker.

And it seems as though David Moyes has his eye on someone in particular…

West Ham eyeing summer move to sign Antonin Barak

Corriere di Verona (print edition April 14th, page 12) claims that the Czech ace is firmly on the Hammers’ radar ahead of the summer transfer window.

And we believe that he could be a very useful addition for the East London outfit.

The 27-year-old has been on fire this season.

Italian journalist Alessandro De Pietro recently described Barak as a ‘brilliant’ player.

The Hellas Verona play-maker has bagged 10 goals and four assists in 25 appearances Serie A this term (Transfermarkt). Those are some really impressive figures for an attacking midfielder.

Corriere di Verona (print edition April 14th, page 12) reckon that Barak could cost as much as £20 million this summer.

That seems like a lot of money to be paying out for someone who has no experience of Premier League football.

Having said that, West Ham paid a similar fee to bring Tomas Soucek to the London Stadium from the Czech league, and look how successful he has been.

In fact, Soucek and Vladimir Coufal will both know Barak very well, having played in the same Slavia Prague side a few years ago.

The main point here is that if David Moyes wants to sign Barak, then who are we to question the Scot? He’s got nigh on every single absolutely signing spot on since returning to the London Stadium.

And Barak could very well be the latest in the long line of brilliant signings made by the West Ham boss.
