Max Kilman’s transfer from Wolves to West Ham two years ago now looks even worse after the latest Elliot Anderson news.
The Hammers signed the highly-rated central defender for £40 million and gave him a seven-year contract.
Unfortunately, Kilman has fallen a long way short of expectations at the London Stadium and looks set to leave this summer.
The Englishman has underperformed so much that he is not thought to have any suitors for a permanent deal.
West Ham would reportedly be willing to accept a loan offer for Kilman just to get his salary off the books for a season.
Hammers News explains how Elliot Anderson’s potential record-breaking move to Manchester City is relevant to Kilman.

The forgotten Max Kilman transfer story that now looks extraordinary
Newcastle were reportedly big admirers of Max Kilman during his time at Wolves, as were many Premier League clubs.
The Magpies even offered a player-plus-cash deal to sign Kilman, which involved academy graduate Elliot Anderson.
Wolves turned down Newcastle’s offer, and not long after, Kilman joined West Ham, and Anderson joined Nottingham Forest.
Anderson has since developed into one of the best central midfielders in England at the City Ground.
Meanwhile, Kilman is no longer considered to be a capable Premier League player following a dismal 2025/26 season.
Anderson has been so impressive that Man City recently made a British record £120m offer to sign him from Forest.

Goodbye Traore and Fabianski! 👋
The current most expensive British player is Declan Rice, who moved from West Ham to Arsenal for £100m in 2024.
The Anderson transfer saga adds another twist to Kilman’s unfortunate decline, and Wolves must be kicking themselves.
Even though £40m was an excellent offer, Anderson is now worth triple that, especially if he stars at the World Cup.
As for West Ham, they would be fortunate to recoup any transfer fee for Kilman this summer, as they look to rebuild without him.
