Alphonse Areola allegedly could leave West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

Claret and Hugh, who have close links with West Ham owner David Sullivan, suggest that if Lukasz Fabianski is offered a new deal as expected, then Alphonse Areola may well leave the London Stadium this summer.

The Hammers signed the 30-year-old goalkeeper from Paris Saint-Germain on a season-long loan in the summer of 2021, and we made his move a permanent one the following year for around £7.6 million (Daily Mail).

However, Areola is still yet to feature regularly in the Premier League. When Fabianski recently injured his eye, the Frenchman came into the team, only to be dropped again just a few weeks later as soon as the 38-year-old returned to full fitness.

The French World Cup winner is clearly good enough to be a number one goalkeeper at the highest level. There is no chance that he’ll accept being our number two for another season if Fabianski stays.

And the former PSG man seemingly could be on his way out of the London Stadium this summer…

Alphonse Areola could leave West Ham

According to Claret and Hugh, Fabianski signing a new deal could mean that the 30-year-old France international will be off this summer.

I would be extremely angry if Areola is allowed to leave the London Stadium this summer. He quite simply has to be our number one goalkeeper in my opinion.

It has to be said that he is on another level to Fabianski.

Breaking The Lines have described Areola as a ‘brilliant’ goalkeeper.

Areola is a top-class goalkeeper and he can be our number one stopper for the next seven or eight years.

The 30-year-old has conceded just 33 goals in 37 appearances for the Hammers and kept 17 clean sheets in the process (Transfermarkt).

West Ham selling Alphonse Areola would be a big mistake in my view.
