Johnny Heitinga is the driving force behind West Ham United’s pursuit of a £25 million attacker this month.
West Ham are in the market for some attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window, and Johnny Heitinga is leading the charge for one of our targets.
That’s according to Dutch football journalist Mike Verweij who claims that the Hammers coach is the man behind our interest in signing Steven Bergwijn, when writing for Voetbal Zone.
The 26-year-old emerged as a transfer target for David Moyes a couple of months ago, with the Scot keen to strengthen his attacking ranks at the London Stadium.
Bergwijn could be just the man for the job, and now West Ham know exactly how much we’ll have to pay if we really want to sign him…

West Ham told to pay £25 million to sign 26-year-old in the January window
Dutch journalist Verweij claims that Ajax are open to doing business for Bergwijn this month, and could sell him for as little as €30 million (£25 million).
Whilst at Tottenham, he was described as a great player by Dele Alli (Football London). Meanwhile, former Spurs boss Antonio Conte described him as a player with special qualities (BBC).
He’d be an absolutely superb signing for us in my opinion.
During his time with Tottenham, the 26-year-old bagged just eight goals and 10 assists in 83 games, but he’s faired far better with Ajax, with 24 goals and nine assists to his name in just 65 outings (Transfermarkt).
West Ham target Steven Bergwijn possesses blistering pace, impressive technical ability and can play anywhere along the front-line.
For just £25 million, West Ham should not even think twice about signing Steven Bergwijn in the January transfer window. There won’t be better value to be had out there this month, that’s for sure.
