That’s according to a report from The Sun who claim that the Hammers are keeping tabs on Phillips’ ongoing discussions with Leeds regarding a new contract.

Signing a top-class central midfielder will be one of the main priorities for West Ham manager David Moyes this summer.
And Leeds ace Phillips certainly fits into that category.

The 26-year-old has been absolutely brilliant for the Whites over the past few years and is one of the most popular players amongst the fans at Elland Road.
He would undoubtedly be hugely popular in East London as well. And it seems as though Moyes is desperate to bring him from Leeds to West Ham…
West Ham eye swoop for Leeds ace Kalvin Phillips
The Sun reckon that Leeds have a new contract offer planned for Phillips in the hope that they can keep him in West Yorkshire.
But the longer Phillips goes on without signing the deal, the more likely the Hammers are to make a move to sign him.
And what a superb addition he would be to Moyes’s ranks.
The 26-year-old Whites midfielder is one of the very best in the Premier League in his specific role.
His defensive solidarity and exceptional range of passing would surely take the Hammers to a whole new level entirely.
He is a tough-tackling, tenacious central midfielder and would be the ideal man to slot in the middle of the park alongside Declan Rice.
This would then allow Tomas Soucek to get forward more and do what he does best.
There is one big problem, however. Leeds want around £50 million or even more for the England international (The Sun).
And whether West Ham owners are prepared to pay anything like that for Leeds ace Kalvin Phillips remains to be seen.
