West Ham sporting director Mark Noble has responded when asked about a Jarrod Bowen release clause amid Liverpool links.

West Ham fans will be well aware of Liverpool’s longstanding admiration for top scorer Jarrod Bowen.

And for the avoidance of doubt Jurgen Klopp reiterated it this week when he said the Hammers star is his favourite player outside of Liverpool.

Bowen has been linked with Liverpool for several years, with reports claiming Klopp wants the West Ham hitman as Mohammed Salah’s heir.

Klopp’s comments about Bowen were underlined this week when he scored a fabulous goal in West Ham’s 5-1 drubbing at Anfield.

Noble responds when asked about Bowen release

West Ham fans have been unaffected by the fresh Liverpool links to their star man because he signed a new seven-year deal in October.

But there have been rumours that there may be a secret clause included in the contract. And that would of course leave the door ajar for a potential future move to Liverpool should they front the money required to activate it.

Club insiders told Claret and Hugh his agents were pushing for a buyout clause – but insisted it was eventually dropped.

Now West Ham sporting director Mark Noble has responded when asked about a Bowen release clause amid the Liverpool links.

Noble was speaking to Paul Scholes and Joe Cole about Bowen live on TNT Sports.

‘I’m not telling ya’

When Noble was asked if he was worried about the links to Liverpool and Klopp’s praise of the Hammers attacker, he said: “To be honest it didn’t worry me because he’s just signed a new long-term deal with us only a month or so ago.

“I think Liverpool and Jurgen have always been a big fan of Jarrod. Because the way Jurgen sets his teams up and the way he plays.”

Then Scholes interjected by asking: “Yea but has he got a buyout clause?”

After some awkward laughter, a coy Noble rather worryingly did not rule it out.

“I’m not telling ya! I can’t tell you anyway,” Noble responded.

“No but listen Jaz is great and we are over the moon that he’s signed a new long-term deal here because he is a catalyst for us bringing in good players but also the way we want to play.”
