West Ham United seem to be on the verge of dealing a massive blow to Tottenham Hotspur by signing Lucas Paqueta from Lyon.
The Express claimed yesterday that Tottenham were eyeing up a move to hijack West Ham’s attempts to sign Paqueta.

It seems as though the Hammers have beaten off competition from Spurs for Paqueta though, agreeing a deal worth around £50 million for the 24-year-old (The Athletic).
Tottenham have enjoyed a superb transfer window, and we have as well in fairness.

The Paqueta signing will take it to another level though and the Spurs fans will surely be annoyed that they haven’t won the race for the ultra talented South American…
West Ham set to beat Tottenham to Lucas Paqueta
Fabio Paratici was really keen to bring the Brazilian star to Spurs this summer according to a report from The Express.
It is thought that the Tottenham Director of Football ‘really appreciates’ the 24-year-old attacking midfielder.
It seems as though West Ham are about to get one over on our London rivals though.
The 33-capped Brazil international is an attacking midfielder by trade but he can also operate on either wing if need be.
The silky left-footed ace has bagged 20 goals and 13 assists in 77 games for Lyon so far. Last season, he racked up 11 goals and seven assists in 44 appearances for the French side (Transfermarkt).

Paqueta possesses exceptional technique, impressive pace and has a real eye for goal and a killer pass.
He seems to have all of the attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League and he has that nasty side on the football pitch that is so quintessentially South American as well.
We think that £50 million for Lucas Paqueta wouldn’t be bad value at all for West Ham. He could end up being one of our best signings of the past couple of decades.
The South American guarantees excitement and that’s what we crave at the London Stadium.
The fact that West Ham seem to have beaten Tottenham to Lucas Paqueta makes it that much sweeter for us.
