James Ward-Prowse is keen to join West Ham this summer, and Jacob Steinberg has provided an update on the potential transfer.
The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg told talkSPORT that he expects the transfer of James Ward-Prowse to West Ham to go through in the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, The Evening Standard have claimed that the 28-year-old Saints skipper wants to join the Hammers.

West Ham have been chasing the 11-capped England international all summer long.
And it seems as though David Moyes could be close to securing a deal for his top target…
West Ham signing James Ward-Prowse could now be imminent after Jacob Steinberg’s fresh claim
Steinberg spoke on talkSPORT last night about the Hammers’ underwhelming transfer window so far.
He suggested the reason for our lack of signings is that Moyes is not on the same page as new director of football Tim Steidten.
Steinberg said:
“The general vibe is that Steidten seems to be looking at players from Europe and Moyes very much would like to bring in Premier League experience. What has informed that thinking is that they brought in quite a few players form overseas last year and it didn’t really work out. Nikola Vlasic as well the season before, and that really didn’t work out. Moyes is pushing more for the likes of James Ward-Prowse, and is a deal that I expect do get done in the end. I think Ward-Prowse wants to move to West Ham.”

The 28-year-old would be a solid signing for the Hammers, but I just don’t think we should be paying anywhere near the £40-50 million that Southampton are demanding for him.
Don’t get me wrong, Ward-Prowse is a very good midfielder and has been described as the ‘Premier League’s most underrated player’ by Michael Richards (Daily Echo). However, I think we need to be more ambitious in our summer recruitment.
The Saints captain’s set-piece ability is unreal but aside from that, I’m not sure what he’d add to our team.
West Ham should be targeting central midfielders with far more physicality and dynamism than Ward-Prowse this summer in my opinion.
