Tim Steidten was appointed as the new West Ham director of football on July 1st.

The 44-year-old arrived in his new job with the Hammers with a hugely exciting reputation, having signed some incredibly talented young players during his time in the game so far.

However, with Mark Noble having recently been handed the Sporting Director role at the London Stadium, there is plenty of confusion flying around regarding how all of these appointments will work together alongside David Moyes.

Is Steidten being allowed to perform his duties unencumbered?

Things have-not started very well at all for Steidten at the London Stadium it seems.

90 Min journalists Graeme Bailey and Toby Cudworth, when speaking on Talking Transfers podcast, suggested that the German would even be prepared to walk away from his role as Hammers director of football already due to his lack of agreement with the club’s transfer philosophy.

David Moyes is clearly on the hunt fro experienced Premier League players whilst the former Bayer Leverkusen man is eyeing up younger and less expensive targets from the continent.

The Moyes and Steidten relationship never was going to be a match made in heaven was it!

Now, whilst I don’t believe that the German will walk out of the club after just one month, it wouldn’t surprise me if he lasted less than one full season.

It will be interesting to see what happens come the end of the summer transfer window, because then we will know whether the signings West Ham make were David Moyes or Tim Steidten inspired.
