West Ham United are allegedly keen to sign Atletico Mineiro fullback Guilherme Arana in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Brazilian football journalist Jorge Nicola who claims that the Hammers have actually made contact to sign the 25-year-old defender.
Left-back is definitely an area at the London Stadium where West Ham boss David Moyes will be keen to strengthen before the start of next season.
Aaron Cresswell has been a very good servant for the Hammers over the past eight years but over the past 12 months there have been very clear signs that the 32-year-old is regressing, certainly from a defensive perspective.
Signing a top-class left-back should be one of Moyes’s very top priorities this summer. And it seems as though the Scot could be well on his way to bolstering the left side of his defence ahead of next season…
West Ham make contact to sign Guilherme Arana
Jorge Nicola has claimed that the Hammers have initiated contact with Atletico Mineiro about bringing the three-capped Brazil international to the London Stadium.
It is suggested that West Ham are ready to make a €19 million (£16 million) bid for the 25-year-old left-back.
And we believe that Arana would be a great signing for the Hammers for that kind of money.
The Brazilian has bagged an impressive 13 goals and 20 assists in 112 games for Atletico Mineiro (Transfermarkt).
He is technically brilliant, possesses decent pace and is very strong. In other words, he is perfectly built to succeed in the Premier League.
Arana offers the added bonus of being able to play in a more attacking role as well, and that kind of versatility makes him an absolute steal at just £16 million.
The Hammers should not hesitate to sign the 25-year-old this summer.
West Ham will be a much stronger team with Guilherme Arana starting at left-back next season, that’s for sure.
