West Ham have rejected an £88m Man City bid for Lucas Paqueta but talks continue and are ‘going well’ claims a French journalist.

Hammers fans were rocked yesterday morning when rumours emerged that Manchester City want to sign West Ham star Lucas Paqueta.

And by the evening it was being claimed the Brazil ace could leave the Hammers for Man City as soon as this weekend.

In truth West Ham fans feared their Brazilian magnifico might be looking for a Hammers exit after leaving the agents who brokered his £51m record move to east London last summer.

West Ham reject £88m Man City bid for Lucas Paqueta but talks continue and are ‘going well’ claims French journalist

Yesterday Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna – who was a leading reporter on Paqueta’s move from Lyon to West Ham last year – exclusively claimed that Paqueta could be a Man City player as soon as the weekend.

West Ham rejected an initial approach from Man City for Paqueta but talks have continued.

Now Aouna has delivered a massive update on Foot Mercato.

‘West Ham won’t accept any less than £95m’

“Manchester City have submitted second verbal bid for Lucas Paqueta,” Aouna reports.

“It’s worth £88m.

“West Ham does not accept again and want more. Negotiations are progressing well. Both clubs are confident to close the deal.”

The report claims West Ham will not accept anything less than £95m for Paqueta from Man City.

“According to our information, a new oral offer of 101M€ (£88m) has just been submitted by the formation of Pep Guardiola for the Brazilian international,” the report states.

“However, and despite the crazy sum offered by City for the former OL midfielder, West Ham does not yet seem ready to give in since the London club is claiming neither more nor less than 110M€ (£95m)!”

Earlier today on Hammers News we reported on claims from a source allegedly close to Paqueta about why he wants to quit West Ham.

The source claims the Brazil star cannot stand the football played by David Moyes.

And he is so desperate to leave he instructed his new agents to broker a departure as far back as April.
