West Ham are racing to get a second signing registered for the opening game as a James Ward-Prowse deal is agreed says Dharmesh Sheth.

West Ham are poised to imminently announce the signing of Mexican star Edson Alvarez as their first signing of the summer transfer window.

And he will be closely followed by his new midfield partner according to widespread reports this evening.

Alvarez has successfully completed his medical and will be unveiled as West Ham’s opening signing of the window after a £34m deal was struck with Ajax.

West Ham racing to get second signing registered for opening game as James Ward-Prowse deal is agreed says Dharmesh Sheth

That will mean the 25-year-old can be registered in time to face Bournemouth in West Ham’s opening Premier League game of the season at the weekend.

Whether he would or not given his lack of football or training in the last three weeks is another matter.

But West Ham are now racing to get second signing registered for the opening game as a James Ward-Prowse deal is agreed says Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports reporter has told The Transfer Show that ‘everything is done’ on the deal between West Ham and the Saints for Ward-Prowse.

‘It’s all systems go to meet the deadline’

And it is now ‘all systems go’ to get the dead ball specialist’s Hammers medical done so he can be registered by the Friday lunchtime deadline so he can face Bournemouth.

“Good news for West Ham United, in the past few minutes it’s just been confirmed to me that – and I’ll read it word for word here – ‘Everything is done with JWP’,” Sheth said on The Transfer Show on Wednesday evening (7.45pm).

“We have an agreement between West Ham United and Southampton, agreement we think on personal terms for James Ward-Prowse as well, it’s a £30m deal…

“It’s a case of when and not if now that Ward-Prowse becomes a West Ham United player. Timetable wise we think he will start his medical tomorrow, that will go into Friday as well.

“I’m told it is touch and go whether he will be registered in time to be available against Bournemouth for the Premier League opener on Saturday. Remember they have to have this deal done and registered by midday on Friday… but all systems go it seems.”
