West Ham pushing hard to sign £18.8m centre-forward in January who blew away Sadio Mane

West Ham United are fighting Nottingham Forest for the signing of a real powerhouse of a centre-forward in January.

David Moyes desperately needs to add more strength in depth to his centre-forward ranks at West Ham in the January transfer window.

Hammers striker Michail Antonio is currently injured, but he’s pretty much finished at the very highest level anyway, as far as I’m concerned.

Boulaye Dia is someone who we’ve been linked with signing on numerous occasions before, and we apparently can pick up the 27-year-old Salernitana hitman for around £18.8 million this month.

Dia is the perfect fit for Moyes’s system at the London Stadium, and I think he’d be a really strong addition for us.

However, West Ham won’t have everything our own way in the chase for the Salernitana ace’s signature it seems…

West Ham pushing hard to sign centre-forward in January

According to a report from Sportitalia, West Ham are battling Nottingham Forest in the race to sign the Senegal international this month.

I think that Dia would be a fine addition for us this month, especially for just under £19 million.

Former Liverpool striker Sadio Mane absolutely raved about his fellow countryman Dia back when the 27-year-old was playing for Reims, as quoted by Ligue 1’s official website:

“I didn’t know him before. But since the start of the season I started to follow him, and I’m really impressed by his qualities. I think he won’t stay at Reims forever, believe me!”

The Senegal international is incredibly strong and accustomed to playing with his back to goal. He is also willing to make those selfless runs into the channels that frees up so much space for his teammates.

Boulaye Dia would be a huge upgrade on Michail Antonio, there is absolutely no question about that.

I think that if West Ham sign the Salernitana centre-forward in the January transfer window, we’ll be in really good shape heading into the second-half of the season.
