West Ham plotting move to sign Nikola Milenkovic in the summer after 'agent agreement'

West Ham are allegedly eyeing a move to sign Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report from Corriere Fiorentino (print edition March 25th, page 10) who claims that Milenkovic’s recent contract extension with Fiorentina was nothing more than a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ between him, his agent and the club whereby he will be allowed to leave La Viola this summer.

West Ham manager David Moyes desperately needs to sign a top-class central defender in the summer transfer window.

Angelo Ogbonna has been out since November after suffering a serious ACL injury and he’ll be 34 before the start of next season. Meanwhile, Craig Dawson will soon be 32 and it is very much doubtful that Issa Diop has what it takes to be playing regular Premier League football.

Aside from signing a new striker, the addition of an established centre-half will be right at the very top of Moyes’s summer wish-list. And it seems as though the Scot has one defender in particular in mind…

West Ham eyeing Milenkovic transfer swoop in the summer

Corriere Fiorentino claims that the Hammers have the 24-year-old centre-back in their sights, as do Inter Milan.

It is suggested that Milenkovic signed a new deal with Fiorentina last summer after he and his agent struck an agreement with Fiorentina that he would be allowed to leave for a fee in the summer of 2022.

And we think that the Fiorentina ace would be a truly exceptional signing for the Hammers.

The Serb has been magnificent for La Viola this season. Described as an ‘extraordinary defender’ by x-sport news, Milenkovic is a truly elite centre-back.

In 25 Serie A appearances for Fiorentina this term, the 24-year-old has averaged 1.8 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and three clearances per match. He has also won an average of 3.2 aerial duels per game (Who Scored).

Milenkovic is very comfortable with the ball at his feet as well. During his 22 league outings this season, he has made 60.3 passes on average per game and has recorded an incredibly impressive completion rate of 90.4% (Who Scored).

The Serbian was available for around £13 million in January according to Italian website Calciomercato.it.

What an unbelievable bargain that would have been for West Ham. The prospect of Milenkovic lining up alongside Kurt Zouma should be a seriously exciting one for the Hammers fans.

And if Moyes brings Milenkovic to the London Stadium this summer, we will be a seriously strong defensive outfit next term.
