Jamie Redknapp has shared why he believes David Moyes has being harsh with his comments on West Ham ace Said Benrahma in the press.
The 26-year-old was superb against Tottenham yesterday but once again, Moyes chose to hold back on giving him too much praise after the match.

The Scot has consistently taken the hardline approach when speaking about Benrahma during his post-match press conferences.
The Algeria international hasn’t lived up to his reputation since moving to the London Stadium in October 2020.
He has shown glimpses of what he is capable of but not on a consistent enough basis. Benrahma proved just how good he can be yesterday against Spurs.

Moyes spoke to reporters after the game and suggested that Benrahma should have released the ball quicker at certain times yesterday, as quoted by Football.London. Many West Ham fans felt as though those comments were very harsh indeed.
But perhaps all is not what it seems.
Could it actually be the case that Moyes is trying to spur Benrahma on to even greater things?
Jamie Redknapp has Moyes and Benrahma verdict
The Sky Sports pundit raved about Benrahma yesterday afternoon.
And Jamie Redknapp explained how he believes Moyes is trying to get the best out of Benrahma, when speaking on Sky Sports yesterday (Sunday March 20th, 4:16pm):

“I think he knows how much talent he possesses and just wants more, it’s as simple as that. You hear Guardiola do it, he’s been doing it with Mahrez of late. With someone like Benrahma, he possesses so much skill, can turn people inside out, he’s so sharp on the ball and so difficult to defend against. It’s a case of, ‘come on, I want more from you’.”
Redknapp certainly makes a good point.
And I suppose we will only find out whether Moyes is playing his cards right with Benrahma or not over the course of the next year or so.
The Algerian winger is very much a match-winner on his day but he definitely does need to start producing the goods more regularly. Perhaps Moyes does need to start praising him more at the same time as well though.
Time will tell. But as things stand, we still don’t believe that Moyes is a huge fan of Benrahma. And it’s up to the Algerian to change the Scot’s perception.
