Saka will be absolutely gutted. He is one of the very best and most exciting young players we have in this country.

Arsenal fans may well be privately delighted. Saka, 20, will now have nine days off and as long as the symptoms from Covid aren’t too bad, he will raring to go when the Gunners play next.

It will obviously be a slight worry for Arsenal fans, however. Covid is very unpredictable and can affect different people in different ways.

And because of that, some West Ham fans may be slightly concerned this morning…

The 20-year-old Arsenal and England ace took to Twitter yesterday to confirm that he had tested positive for Covid-19:

England will miss Saka but at least our games are only friendlies and there is no real pressure to win either of them.

Only hours before Saka’s tweet last night, the Gunners ace was pictured in very close contact with West Ham star Declan Rice:

Saka will obviously miss England’s games against Switzerland and Ivory Coast on Saturday and Tuesday respectively.

We wish the Arsenal ace a speedy recovery and hopefully Declan Rice would have escaped from his close encounter with the brilliant 20-year-old winger without contracting Covid.

From a selfish perspective though, it would be lovely for Dec to have nine or 10 days off. But as mentioned earlier, you can never predict just how badly Covid-19 will affect someone.

Best of luck to Bukayo Saka and let’s hope that Declan Rice is avoids any problems with Covid-19.
