The Hammers eased into the quarter-finals of the Europa League after beating Sevilla on a memorable night at the London Stadium on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Lyon advanced after beating Portuguese outfit Porto over two legs.
We’re now down to the last eight and it really is anyone’s trophy with eight very good sides remaining in the draw.

West Ham are currently sitting in seventh spot in the Premier League table whilst Lyon are languishing down in 10th place in Ligue 1.
The Hammers made a brilliant start to the 2021/22 campaign but we have certainly gone off the boil since the end of last year, our Europa League excursions aside of course.
That might just work in our favour against Lyon though…
Lyon manager delivers West Ham verdict ahead of Europa League quarter-final clash
Arguably our worst performance in the Premier League this season came back in December when we lost 2-0 away at Arsenal.
Coincidentally, that was the last time Lyon boss Peter Bosz watched us in action.
And the Lyon manager has given his reaction to drawing the Hammers in the Europa.
Bosz told Foot Mercato:

“It’s a good team. But there are only good teams in the quarter-finals. So let’s go to London. It’s been quite a while since I saw them play for 90 minutes against Arsenal. It was a good game. When you’re sixth (now seventh) in the Premier League, it’s not bad. We are tenth in L1”.
Hopefully our display against Arsenal gives Bosz and his Lyon players a false sense of security.
Perhaps the Ligue 1 outfit believe they are the better side and can simply swat us aside if they play at their best.
We have one message for Lyon though – do so at your peril.
West Ham proved against Sevilla that we are more than capable of mixing it with Europe’s big boys.
Bosz has surely seen West Ham beat the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United and of course Sevilla This season. We actually found the Dutchman’s comments to be rather smug.
Hopefully Lyon will be expecting an easy ride against West Ham though. If they approach the Europa League quarter-final clash with too much confidence, and are in any way complacent, they could be in for a seriously big wakeup call.
West Ham will host Lyon for the first-leg of the Europa League quarter-final clash at the London Stadium on April 7th before we head to France for the return fixture at the Groupama Stadium on April 14th.
If West Ham progress through, we will play either Barcelona or Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League semi-finals.
The full quarter-final draw can be seen here via UEFA’s official website.
