West Ham United are allegedly in a seven-way race to sign Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to a report from 90 Min who claim that the Hammers face competition from Southampton, Everton, Leicester, Wolves, Leeds and Brentford for Brownhill’s signature this summer.

The 26-year-old would be a decent squad addition for West Ham this summer.
David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his engine room at the London Stadium after Mark Noble retired and with Alex Kral clearly facing a return to Spartak Moscow or another club in Italy.
Will Moyes go for a blockbuster central midfielder addition or a cheaper option though?

It seems as though the Scot is after someone who will play more of a bit-part role next season…
West Ham chasing Burnley midfielder
According to a report from 90 Min, the Hammers are battling six other Premier League club’s for Josh Brownhill’s signature this summer.
Brownhill would be a very useful addition to Moyes’s squad. He is a very combative central midfielder and is a tenacious tackler with an uncanny knack for intercepting the ball and interrupting the opposition’s play.
The former Bristol City ace had 69 interceptions in 33 Premier League games for Burnley in the 2020/21 season.
He was second on the list behind Southampton’s centre-back Jan Bednarek. Last term, he finished fourth on the list with 68 (Premier League).
Brownhill also bagged two goals and three assists in 35 Premier League games for Burnley last season (Transfermarkt).

The English midfielder is an extremely hard-worker and that is what probably appeals most to the Hammers and Moyes.
Interestingly, Brownhill actually rejected a move to West Ham back in 2020 (BBC). And it now seems as though he could go full circle.
If Josh Brownhill really is a target for West Ham, we won’t be too unhappy. He’d be a decent addition to the Hammers squad.
We have to say though, we’d much prefer West Ham boss David Moyes to go out and bring an elite central midfielder to the London Stadium this summer.
