Ben Brereton Diaz is nothing more than a backup option to Chelsea striker Armando Broja for West Ham United this summer.
That’s according to club insiders Claret and Hugh who claim that the 23-year-old Blackburn hitman is on the radar of Hammers boss David Moyes.

The Scot’s number one striker target is Armando Broja this summer.
If Chelsea do not allow the 20-year-old to leave Stamford Bridge though, West Ham could make a move for Ben Brereton Diaz, 23.
The Hammers have already been busy in the transfer market this summer, bringing in Nayef Aguerd and Flynn Downes as well as youngster Patrick Kelly. We’ve also made the loan deal of Alphonse Areola permanent.

The addition of a top-class striker will be the next item on Moyes’s agenda. And it seems as though the Scot has someone in mind if he is unable to sign Broja…
West Ham have backup option for Broja
According to Claret and Hugh, Moyes is eyeing a move to sign Blackburn ace Ben Brereton Diaz if he is unsuccessful in his pursuit of the Chelsea striker.
The Sun and Alan Nixon recently suggested that a move to West Ham in the summer would be a dream for the 23-year-old striker.
He has really impressed since the start of the 2021/22 campaign and he seems to have reached another level entirely for Blackburn.

The Chile international has bagged 22 goals in 37 Championship games (Transfermarkt). Diaz actually went nine games without scoring after the new year but made up for that with a couple of goals in Blackburn’s final four games of the season.
Brereton Diaz is a hard working striker and standing at 6ft 1in tall, he’s big and strong as well.
Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray recently raved about the Chile international, as quoted by Lancs Live:
“Brereton with the ball at his feet is an extraordinary talent. He’s a wonderful footballer who can dribble with both feet, take people out of the game.”
The Blackburn ace is clearly a very decent striker.
We have to say though, we’d be fairly underwhelmed if West Ham sign him as an alternative to Broja.
