West Ham United have allegedly made a move to sign talented Juventus left-back Luca Pellegrini in the last few hours.

That’s according to a report from Calcio Mercato who claim that the Hammers are set to battle it out with Fulham for the 23-year-old left-back this summer.

Signing a new left-back will be one of the main priorities for David Moyes this summer and Pellegrini is someone we have been linked with for quite some time now.

The Scot absolutely must bring in a top-class left-back before the start of the new season to really push Aaron Cresswell for his place.

The 32-year-old regressed during the second half of last season and it’s time for Moyes to being in a younger, more pacy and energetic left-back.

It seems as though that’s exactly what the Scot has in mind…

West Ham move to sign Luca Pellegrini

Calcio Mercato claim that the Hammers and Fulham are keen to bring the Italian to London from Juventus this summer.

We think that Pellegrini will be a superb addition for the Hammers this summer.

The 23-year-old could be available for just €10 million (£8.4 million) this summer according to Gazzetta dello Sport (print edition June 22nd, page 11).

Pellegrini has bags of pace, is an able defender and offers a lot going forward as well. He is at an age where he will undoubtedly continue to improve at a fairly fast rate as well.

Pellegrini joined Juventus from Roma in 2019 for around £19 million (SI Soccer). He made an immediate impression in Turin but hasn’t been a regular starter over the past 18 months.

The 23-year-old is an attacking full-back by nature and can also operate further up the pitch if need be.

He actually rejected a move to West Ham in the summer of 2021 because he wanted to stay and fight for his place at Juve (Bianconero).

That obviously hasn’t worked out for him though. A move to the London Stadium would be a smart step for his career.

And it seems as though East London could very well be Pellegrini’s next destination.
