West Ham have just made January enquiry for attacker dubbed ‘devastating new Salah’

West Ham United have apparently made an enquiry to sign an attacker from Serie A in the January window.

The January transfer window is a vitally important one for West Ham manager David Moyes, with the addition of a top-class attacker is very much needed this winter.

The Hammers boss is currently without his entire first-choice attacking trio of Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen, although the latter could be back in action as soon as tomorrow.

And it seems as though ‘the new Mohamed Salah‘ Albert Gudmundsson of Genoa is firmly on our radar according to Tuttomercatoweb, a player who West Ham have been linked with on numerous occasions already this month.

In fact, it is suggested that we have just made an enquiry for him. The 26-year-old has been in terrific form out in Italy this season.

And it seems like Albert Gudmundsson could now be set for a big move to the Premier League this winter…

West Ham eyeing January attacker swoop

I would absolutely love us to sign Gudmundsson in the January window. He has been on fire for Genoa so far this season, and has bagged 10 goals and three assists in 20 games (Transfermarkt).

The 35-capped Iceland international can play anywhere along the front-line but is at his best when operating on the left wing or in the number 10 role.

Gudmundsson is a very good dribbler, has impressive pace, impeccable technical ability and possesses a wicked delivery (Breaking the Lines).

Ex Roma star Kevin Strootman absolutely raved about the Icelandic ace recently, as quoted by Football Italia:

“If he keeps improving, he won’t stay at Genoa for long. He reminds me of Salah when he was at Roma, in that every now and then he disappears. Much like Salah then, he would have four or five chances per match and only score at most one. They used to say that if Salah was more clinical, he would be playing for Liverpool, and that is exactly what happened. All joking aside, Gudmundsson is a devastating player and also an exemplary professional.”

Some may say that Gudmundsson, 26, surely wouldn’t be playing for Genoa at his age, if he was anywhere near as good as Salah.

However, it is worth remembering that the Egyptian superstar didn’t get his big move to Liverpool until he was 25. So maybe this winter will be Gudmundsson’s time to shine.

If West Ham do manage to sign the Genoa attacker in the January transfer window, I reckon we’ll have a seriously good player on our hands.

Whether he goes on to emulate Salah remains to be seen though.
