West Ham and Everton were both linked with a move to sign Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey a few days ago by The Sun.
We outlined why the Hammers shouldn’t be going anywhere near the 67-capped Wales international right here on Hammers News.
And now it seems as though Everton boss Rafa Benitez could be set to do West Ham a big favour.
The Toffees are in prime position to sign Ramsey.
TuttoJuve claims that the 30-year-old would prefer to move to Goodison Park rather than the London Stadium in January.
The Welshman is allegedly available for around £4 million.
Lucky escape for West Ham if Everton sign Aaron Ramsey?
We think that the former Arsenal man would be a very poor signing for the Hammers.
He doesn’t fit into the category of players David Moyes has repeatedly insisted he wants to bring to West Ham.
At 30, Ramsey is well past his best physically. He has also won numerous league titles and cups throughout his time in the game, so questions have to be asked regarding his hunger.
Another huge problem with signing the Juventus midfielder is his horrendous record with injuries.
Since the start of the 2018/19 season, Ramsey has missed 271 days of action (Transfermarkt).
£4 million for Ramsey sounds like somewhat of a bargain on the face of it. But delve deeper and it would still be a hugely expensive deal.
Ramsey earns a massive £220k-a-week (Calcio Mercato) and he surely will not be willing to take a pay cut.
Everton signing the Welshman would actually do us a massive favour.
David Moyes has far more pressing priorities on his agenda, not least the signing of an established striker in January.
And missing out on Aaron Ramsey could end up being a lucky escape.
