The 26-year-old joined the Hammers from Chelsea for just under £30 million.

And it already looks like David Moyes has secured a quite unbelievable piece of business for West Ham.

Why Blues boss Thomas Tuchel allowed Zouma to leave Stamford Bridge to join the Hammers really is anyone’s guess.

The German obviously thought that he would sign Jules Kounde from Sevilla. But surely he should have waited for that to be confirmed before allowing Zouma to leave?

We’re not complaining of course…West Ham have a truly top-class centre-back on our hands now.

Kurt Zouma shares five-word explanation for joining West Ham from Chelsea

The 26-year-old Frenchman has already established himself as a key man for the Hammers.

And Zouma offered a simple reply when asked why he swapped West London for East London:

“I needed to play more.”

The powerful defender then went on to explain how David Moyes and West Ham United as a football club attracted him as soon as he was made aware of our interest in signing him:

“What already seduced me is the club. I think it’s a good club that is making great progress. They did an exceptional job last year to qualify for the Europa League. And there, we will have a difficult group, we can do something this year. The fact of having spoken with the manager, who helped me a lot and convinced me, who showed me that he wanted me. He thinks that I will bring more to the team, from my experience. I’ve been in England for a long time, and I’m in the France squad so it’s true that I can bring all my defensive and offensive quality.”

We are absolutely delighted that we have Zouma on board.

He has already made a massive difference to West Ham defensively.
