West Ham United are now eyeing up a move to sign a Manchester United striker in the January transfer window.

David Moyes is clearly very keen to bring a a new forward to West Ham in the January transfer window, with his entire front-line currently unavailable.

According to a report from Caught Offside, a potential target for the Hammers this winter is Manchester United ace Anthony Martial.

Martial, 28, is an attacker who can play anywhere along the front-line, although he’s probably at his best when cutting in from the left hand side.

The Frenchman is an elite talent, but he’s never cut the mustard at Old Trafford. He has bagged just 90 goals in 317 games for the 20-time champions of England (Transfermarkt) – not a great return given the reputation that accompanied him to Old Trafford.

That doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t succeed elsewhere of course.

However, I do not believe for one second that we’ll be signing Martial in the January window…

Caught Offside are claiming that West Ham are ‘one to watch’ in the Premier League, when it comes down to the race for the Red Devils ace.

Inter Milan, Fenerbahce and Saudi clubs are also said to be keen on signing Martial this winter.

As mentioned earlier, I just cannot see the Man United man moving to the London Stadium in January.

For a start, he currently earns around £250k-a-week at Old Trafford (Spotrac), and there’s absoltuely no way the Hammers will be offering him anything like that.

Secondly, he has a lengthy list of reported disciplinary problems during his time with Manchester United (The Express).

I can’t envisage a scenario whereby Moyes brings Martial to the club this winter – the Frenchman just doesn’t seem to be his kind of player.

West Ham will surely move for another striker this month – there are certainly plenty out there and available including the likes of Santiago Gimenez, Hugo Ekitike and Serhou Guirassy. I expect the Hammers to sign a forward, but that man won’t be Anthony Martial, I’m almost certain of it.
