West Ham United are said to be eyeing up a move to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea in the January transfer window.

According to a report from 90min, Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is firmly on the West Ham radar, but the Blues are keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal.

Hammers boss David Moyes needs to strengthen his midfield ranks with the addition of a player with Gallagher’s skill-set, and it was claimed back in the summer that the Scot tried to bring the midfielder to the London Stadium.

The 23-year-old has started all 11 of Chelsea’s Premier League games this season, and only twice has he not played the entire 90 minutes (Transfermarkt), so Mauricio Pochettino is clearly a big fan of him.

The England international is out of contract at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2025, but Chelsea want to extend that deal.

That won’t stop West Ham from trying to sign him though…

West Ham eye hugely exciting move for Conor Gallagher as report shares surprise Chelsea stance

90min reckon that the Hammers are eyeing up a move to bring the industrious midfielder to the London Stadium.

It won’t be easy for us to do that though, with Pochettino keen to tie him down to a new deal that would see him commit his best years to the Blues.

Frank Lampard once described the 23-year-old as an ‘amazing’ talent (Daily Mail), and he’s spot on.

Gallagher has been superb for Chelsea this season – one of only a couple of Blues players to have emerged from the first few months of the campaign with any kind of credit whatsoever.

The 23-year-old is highly energetic, possesses superb technical ability and can play in a variety of different positions.

It was recently claimed that he could be available for around £40 million (Daily Mail). That would represent good value for the Hammers in my book.

However, it seems like West Ham won’t be signing Conor Gallagher this winter, with Chelsea keen to tie him down to a new deal.
