West Ham are now eyeing a loan move to sign Paris Saint-Germain ace Abdou Diallo in the January transfer window according to a report from RMC Sport.

The Hammers desperately need to bolster our defensive ranks at the London Stadium this month.

Angelo Ogbonna is out for the season whilst Kurt Zouma is still working hard to return from the hamstring tendon injury he suffered back in early December.

Aside from central defence, the addition of a new left-back is needed at West Ham as well. Aaron Cresswell is still out injured after hurting his back against Manchester City in November and he will be 33 later this year.

So David Moyes would do well to kill two birds with one stone by signing a left-footed defender who can operate in both the centre-back and left-back positions.

Seemingly, that’s exactly what the Scot is trying to do…

West Ham eyeing loan swoop for PSG ace Abdou Diallo

The seven capped Senegal international is wanted by David Moyes this month according to RMC Sport.

We think that the 25-year-old would be a superb addition to the Scot’s ranks at the London Stadium.

The left-footed Diallo can play at centre-back or left-back. Crucially, he’s left-footed. Diallo has played at left-back eight times this season and centre-back three times.

There Senegalese ace is a very good passer and is great going forward due to his brilliant dribbling ability.

Diallo possesses a wicked delivery as well which makes him the ideal candidate to compete with Aaron Cresswell, or even fill in for the 32-year-old, between now and the end of the season.

He’s 6ft 2in tall as well so has the kind of stature that makes him ideally suited to the Premier League.

One red flag for the Hammers will be Diallo’s tackling. He isn’t always the best when facing opposing attackers one-on-one.

Moyes would have undoubtedly done his due diligence though. And if the Scot wants to bring the PSG ace to the London Stadium then he must think he will be able to make a difference for us between now and the end of the season.

If we do manage to sign Diallo on loan though, we must ensure that a purchase option is included in the deal. We learned the hard way in the summer with Jesse Lingard about the problems of signing players on loan without the option to buy them.
