West Ham United are said to be eyeing up a move to sign a 24-year-old Englishman from the Championship in the summer window to provide proper competition and cover for one of our key players.

The summer transfer window will be a vitally important one for West Ham manager David Moyes, if he is still in charge at the London Stadium of course.

The Hammers squad has been stripped down to the bare bones, and one player who we are completely overly reliant on is Emerson Palmieri.

The 29-year-old was signed from Chelsea in the summer of 2022 for around £15 million, and he has proven to be an unbelievable player for us.

However, the huge problem that Moyes has is the fact that when the Italy international is unavailable, we quite simply aren’t the same team.

And it seems as though the Scot is ready to address that issue in the summer…

West Ham could sign 24-yo Englishman in the summer window

According to a report from talkSPORT, West Ham have registered our interest in signing Ipswich Town left-back Leif Davis in the summer – a player we were heavily linked with bringing to the London Stadium in the January window.

He obviously remained at Portman Road in the end, and has been in sensational form for the Tractor Boys this season, playing an absolutely crucial role in their rise up to third spot in the Championship table.

In 31 Championship games for Ipswich this season, Davis has bagged a really impressive 12 assists. During those appearances, the 24-year-old has averaged 1.8 tackles and 1.2 interceptions per match (Who Scored).

Davis possesses pace and power in abundance and impressive technical ability as well. He also stands at 6ft tall, so that will greatly appeal to Moyes, and he’s clearly ready to make the jump up to Premier League football.

Leif Davis is a fabulous player, and I think he’d fit right in at the London Stadium. One thing’s for sure, if Moyes brings him to West Ham in the summer transfer window, Emerson will finally have some proper competition for his place in the starting lineup.
