West Ham United could be willing to make Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher our third most expensive signing of all-time.
Conor Gallagher is firmly on the West Ham radar in the January transfer window it seems, although Tottenham are thought to be leading the race for his signature this winter.
Hammers boss David Moyes is clearly looking to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium this month, and the addition of a hard-working, industrious central midfielder, but one with real technical ability as well, is very much needed at the club.
Gallagher, 23, fits that bill perfectly. Chelsea are reportedly willing to sell the 11-capped England international this month (ESPN).
And the Blues midfielder is exactly what we need in my view. He’d perfectly compliment Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse in the middle of the park.
Now it seems like West Ham could make our move for Gallagher…

West Ham could try for Conor Gallagher this month
According to Evening Standard journalsit Dan Kilpatrick, the Hammers could be set to battle Spurs for Gallagher’s signature this month.
He told the Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast that West Ham may be willing to pay as much as £40 million for the 23-year-old:
“It will be interesting to see what happens with Gallagher this month. Spurs and possibly West Ham would pay £30m or £40m for him. I’m sure the Chelsea owners would like that, but I think Pochettino would hate that, so keep an eye on that one.”
If we brought Gallagher to the London Stadium for £40 million, he’d be our third most expensive signing of all-time behind only Sebastien Haller and Lucas Paqueta.
As mentioned earlier, I think that the Chelsea midfielder would be the absolutely perfect signing for us, and I actually believe that £40 million would be good value for him as well.
Whether the West Ham owners will be prepared to spend £40 million on Conor Gallagher in the January transfer window remains to be seen.
I feel like if it’s a race between us and Tottenham, then the North London club are clear favourites. Let’s wait and see what happens though. Who knows? Maybe David Sullivan will surprise us all.
