West Ham could lose Konstantinos Mavropanos just one year after signing him

Konstantinos Mavropanos has now started to show the West Ham United fans what he is truly capable of.

West Ham manager David Moyes brought Konstantinos Mavropanos to the London Stadium for around £19 million back in August of 2023 (The Guardian).

The 26-year-old has seized his chance for the Hammers, after Moyes dropped Nayef Aguerd down to the bench. And it seems as though his fine performances for us recently have not gone unnoticed.

According to a report from Corriere dello Sport (March 4th, page 5), the big Greek centre-back is still on the radar of the Serie A giants, after they failed to sign him last summer ahead of us.

Ex-Hammer Danny Gabbidon recently described Mavropanos as an ‘outstanding’ centre-back (BBC), and despite his slow start to life at the London Stadium, he’s now beginning to show us all what he’s all about.

Losing him just 10 months after we signed him when the summer transfer window opens in June would be a bitter pill to swallow, but it seems as though it could happen…

West Ham could lose Konstantinos Mavropanos

Napoli tried to sign the Greece international last summer, and it seems as though they could come back in for him in a few month’s time.

After a poor start to the season, the Naples outfit are chasing down the European spots, and are now only eight points adrift of the Champions League places in Serie A.

Should they go on a tear now, and qualify for Europe’s premier competition, or even the Europa League, they may well be an attractive prospect for Dinos.

However, I think the Hammers should be going all out to keep him at the London Stadium.

In 12 Premier League appearances for West Ham this season, Konstantinos Mavropanos has averaged 1.6 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, 4.6 clearances and 2.2 successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).

He looks like he could now be the first-choice centre-back for the Hammers now, and he’ll hopefully continue to get better and better now.

Moyes absolutely has to keep the Greek ace at the London Stadium. If Napoli make a move for him this summer, we should be rejecting any offers out of hand.
