Vladimir Coufal did something very special indeed for West Ham in the dying minutes against Everton on Saturday, and it went almost completely unnoticed.

West Ham right-back Vladimir Coufal was somewhat of an unsung hero during our win over Everton, with the likes of Tomas Soucek and Alphonse Areola getting most of the plaudits.

Coufal’s countryman Soucek really was showered with praise from the fans and media alike, with the Match of the Day panel describing his goal as ‘a bit special’.

Areola got his flowers as well, and he is proving to David Moyes that he should have been the Hammers’ number one goalkeeper as soon as he arrived at the London Stadium.

Edson Alvarez was another one who was praised for his incredible performance, as Coufal went about his business quietly, unspectacularly, but extremely diligently.

However, there was something spectacular that the 31-year-old did near the end of the game against the Toffees that went largely unnoticed…

Vladimir Coufal showcases special technique for West Ham

The hard-working Hammers full-back never gives anything less than 100%, and he is really appreciated by the club’s fans. However, we saw a completely different side to him at Goodison Park on Saturday…

The official Hammers X account posted the below video on their feed last night, showing Coufal channelling his inner Cafu:

Wow that is absolutely stunning from the Czech Republic international! What incredible skill and finesse. To control a ball coming over your head from that high in the air really does require special technique.

We often look at the former Slavia Prague man as someone who always gives his all but isn’t necessarily the silkiest of footballers.

However, perhaps he deserves more credit. Vlad has actually been in decent form for us this season, and he has definitely gone under the radar as one of our most consistent performers.

Let’s not forget, Vladimir Coufal has bagged six assists in 25 Premier League games for West Ham this season (Who Scored) – not bad at all for a right-back!

And now we’ve seen him showcase the incredible touch that he possesses, I want to see him do it more often!
