The Match of the Day panel were stunned by one West Ham United player in particular yesterday.
The West Ham fans would have loved watching us on Match of the Day last night – there hasn’t been too many times we could have said that over the past two months.
The Hammers probably didn’t deserve to win the match against Everton 3-1 in the end, but there were still some really impressive performances all round.
Tomas Soucek scored an absolute wonder goal for West Ham, whilst Alphonse Areola proved once again why David Moyes should have been using him as his number one Premier League goalkeeper since 2021.
At the end of the day, it was a vital three points for us, and it sets us up to have a real run at finishing sixth in the Premier League table now. What did the Match of the Day pundits think about the display though, or more specifically, one of our players in particular?

Match of the Day panel blown away by West Ham player
Tomas Soucek was singled out for praise by Gary Lineker and Jermaine Jenas last night.
Lineker raved about the Czech ace after his incredible strike against the Toffees, when speaking on Match of the Day (Saturday March 2nd):
“What a spectacular winner, I know there were two goals in injury time, but Tomas Soucek’s was a bit special wasn’t it.”
Then Jenas piled on the praise for Big Tom as well:
“He has to readjust his body, gets a great touch, and that finish is unreal, it really is.”
Soucek really does deserve all the flowers being thrown his way right now, and not just because he scored a great goal yesterday.
The Czech Republic international always gives 100% for the Hammers and nothing less. Sometimes I think we take him for granted, and he deserves way more respect from us, myself included!
The Match of the Day crew were hugely impressed by the West Ham midfielder yesterday. It’s great that he seems to be coming into form just at the right time for us now.
