West Ham defender Konstantinos Mavropanos will be baffled if David Moyes continues to ignore him

Konstantinos Mavropanos has made only one start for West Ham since joining us in the summer from Stuttgart, and that came in the Europa League.

West Ham United signed Konstantinos Mavropanos for around £20 million in the summer transfer window (The Evening Standard).

The 25-year-old is clearly a supremely talented centre-back – he proved that with his exceptional performance against Backa Topola last week.

However, Hammers boss David Moyes has still not given him a single minute in the Premier League, let alone started him.

With the really poor form of Nayef Aguerd recently though, the Greece international is surely an absolute shoo-in to start in the Premier League against Sheffield United on Saturday…

Konstantinos Mavropanos will surely start for West Ham in the Premier League soon

I’m sure that the former Arsenal and Stuttgart man will get the nod in the Carabao Cup third round clash with Lincoln City tomorrow.

However, the acid test will be whether Moyes selects him for the Premier League game against Sheffield United this weekend.

Listen, the majority of West Ham fans are baffled as to why Konstantinos Mavropanos hasn’t been included in Moyes’s Premier League starting XI yet, so you can bet your life that the centre-back is thinking along the same lines.

The 25-year-old is a far more solid central defender than Aguerd is. The Moroccan has been incredibly error-prone over the past couple of months, and he was last season as well.

His form has deteriorated so much that he has now become a target of weakness for our opponents.

Taking Aguerd’s woeful form into account, Moyes simply cannot ignore Mavropanos any more. If the Greek ace plays tomorrow it will mean nothing, as mentioned earlier. I for one am already excited to see the team-sheet for Saturday’s clash with Sheffield United.
