talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook was absolutely baffled by the decision not to award Jarrod Bowen a penalty during the Liverpool vs West Ham clash.
Liverpool played host to West Ham on Sunday and Jarrod Bowen was denied an absolute stonewall penalty inside the first-half.

Hammers boss David Moyes would have been absolutely furious when the referee failed to blow up for a penalty, and with the fact that it wasn’t even extensively checked by VAR.

West Ham lost the game 3-1 in the end, but the outcome could have been so different had Bowen been awarded the spot-kick.
The fact the Hammers never seem to get decisions away at the so-called ‘big six’ is alarming in my opinion, and it needs addressing. Journalists are starting to notice this as well now…
Jarrod Bowen penalty decision during Liverpool vs West Ham was an absolute shocker
Alex Crook highlighted how concerning it was to see the penalty not given when Bowen was brought down by Reds midfielder Alexis Mac Allister inside the box.
The talkSPORT journalist suggested that he would love to know the reasoning behind the Hammers not being awarded a penalty, when speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast on talkSPORT:

“There was a big moment in terms of officials. Jarrod Bowen, I think that’s a penalty. I think the inconsistency is concerning, because we’ve seen VAR checks, we’ve seen penalties given for those kinds of incidents, so I’d love to know why the PGMOL deemed that wasn’t a penalty. There was enough contact for me.”
I totally agree with Crook here. If that had happened up the other end, there is no doubt in my mind that Liverpool would have been awarded a penalty kick.
We all know how tough it is for teams like West Ham to get results at places like Anfield – the odds are always hugely stacked against us from the start.
Bowen was clearly brought down by the Argentinian World Cup winner, and videos prove that.
It wasn’t given though, and the Hammers went on to lose the game. That’s incredibly frustrating because had Jarrod Bowen been awarded the penalty, who knows, that decision could have changed the outcome of the match.
