West Ham boss David Moyes will be on his hands and knees hoping a mega new Frenkie de Jong Chelsea claim is true.

West Ham’s interest in a number of Chelsea players has been well documented this summer.

Indeed Chelsea’s interest in one particular West Ham star has been widely reported for several years too.

Having done business with the Blues to sign Kurt Zouma last summer, the Hammers are said to be seriously interested in opening up the lines of communication between east and west London again to bring in midfield dynamo Conor Gallagher.

The Hammers are also said to be in talks to sign defender Emerson from the Blues.

After a superb season on loan at Crystal Palace, Gallagher has earned England recognition.

And he returned to Chelsea seemingly determined to stake a claim for a place in Thomas Tuchel’s side.

When he started on the bench for Chelsea’s season opener against Everton, transfer speculation immediately reignited.

According to a report from The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg – who is well connected at West Ham – Moyes recently enquired again for the 22-year-old.

Reports claim West Ham’s enquiry was knocked back. But a report from 90min has suggested there may be hope for Moyes yet as Gallagher will want to be playing to keep his place in the England squad for the World Cup.

Moyes is desperate to sign another central midfielder having pulled out of a deal for Amadou Onana and after missing out on Matheus Nunes.

Something is seriously lacking in the Hammers side at the moment. Moyes recently said his team looks “stale” and the likes of Tomas Soucek is a shadow of the player West Ham fans fell in love with.

So West Ham boss Moyes will be on his hands and knees hoping a mega new Frenkie de Jong Chelsea claim is true.

Overnight it was reported that Chelsea “know” they will beat Manchester United to the signing of de Jong.

According to reports in Spain (SPORT), as also reported by The Mirror, de Jong is desperate to continue playing Champions League football and the Dutch star now looks set to join Chelsea with Man United switching attentions to Real Madrid midfielder Casimero.

And it could trigger a transfer triangle that comes as a huge double boost for West Ham.

If de Jong does indeed join Chelsea not only might that see the Hammers chances of signing Gallagher dramatically improved, but it would also make a Blues move for Declan Rice unlikely anytime soon.

With Man United moving for Casimero, that may also rule the Red Devils out of the running for Rice in the coming years

West Ham fans and Moyes will be keeping a very close eye on the de Jong situation.

It could be the key to unlocking West Ham’s chances of getting Gallagher in the door.
