West Ham have been boosted by a Sky Sports claim about a Spurs outcast David Moyes wants after missing out on Djed Spence in the summer.
West Ham and bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur were linked with mutual interest in a number of players in the summer.
One area that was a priority to strengthen for both West Ham and Tottenham in the summer was at right-back.
Spurs beat West Ham to the signing of reported Moyes target Djed Spence and the Hammers never solved the issue, which has been costing them dear all season long.
Tottenham meanwhile also allegedly beat West Ham to bring young Italian fullback Destiny Udogie, just to rub salt in the wound. Udogie was allowed to stay at Udinese on loan for the season but looks to very much be Tottenham’s future in that position.
And the same cannot be said for Spence.
The 22-year-old lit up the Championship with Forest last season and was being courted by multiple clubs, including West Ham.
He opted to join Spurs but Antonio Conte admitted it was not his decision to sign the swashbuckling right-back (Daily Mail).
And it has showed. Spence has played just five minutes for Tottenham in the Premier League this season (WhoScored).
Before the World Cup break The Times claimed Spurs would be open to letting Spence leave on loan in the January window.
And journalist Dean Jones also confirmed that would the case for the £25k per week right-back.
Jones, billed as GIVEMESPORT’s transfer insider, said: “They’re open to letting him go, but it needs to be to a club that can quickly get him up to the levels to play in the same sort of system that is going to help him at Spurs, so it’s not as simple as just finding him a loan deal.“

According to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge – a Spurs fan with connections inside the club – Spence will be allowed to join a Premier League rival on loan this month.
And he can see the Tottenham right-back moving even if he has to wait until deadline day.
“Djed Spence out of the three (right-backs at Spurs) would be the one I expect to go out on loan,” Bridge said on Sky Sports.
“Spurs paid decent money for him from Middlesbrough, Antonio Conte’s been quite open by saying he’s a club signing. I think he would look to maybe get a Premier League loan.
“I think we’ll be talking about Djed Spence, potentially the last day or two of the window… Thankfully I’m there tomorrow for the press conference, so plenty to talk to Antonio about.”
With lowly West Ham no threat to Tottenham’s league position this season, the Hammers may find Daniel Levy is willing to do a deal with them for Spence despite previous frosty relations between the two boardrooms which has seen an unofficial transfer embargo between the two rivals.
West Ham must ask the question because London boy Spence is exactly what Moyes needs, a modern, pacy right-back who can help get in behind and support attacks.
