West Ham have agreed a hugely disappointing fourth transfer deal of the window for Said Benrahma this evening.

West Ham have needed to offload first team fringe players in order to make signings in the January transfer window.

Thilo Kehrer was shipped out on loan to Monaco in a deal that will be made permanent for £10m with easily achievable add-ons.

Conor Coventry was then sold to Charlton for an undisclosed fee by West Ham.

Kalvin Phillips is West Ham’s only signing of the window thus far, arriving on a six-month loan from Man City.

West Ham agree hugely disappointing transfer

Hammers trio Said Benrahma, Pablo Fornals and Maxwel Cornet have also been made available for transfer.

Benrahma has been heavily linked with French clubs and Brentford while Fornals looks set to join Real Betis and Cornet is interesting Notts Forest.

Reports this morning suggested West Ham had rejected a £15m bid for Benrahma from Lyon in the hope they would up their offer.

Now West Ham have agreed a hugely disappointing fourth transfer deal of the window for Benrahma.

According to L’Equipe, Benrahma is set to join Lyon. But only on a paid loan worth around £4.5m and with no obligation to buy or clauses which will make the deal permanent – as is the case with Kehrer.

£4.5m loan fee but no obligation to buy

Lyon do have an option to buy. But that’s all it is, an option. And that is said to be set at a paltry £8.5m.

It means should Benrahma fail to impress – which on recent form is a very real danger – then Lyon can send him back to West Ham in the summer and his value will fall even further.

“Said Benrahma will join Lyon in the coming hours, after having settled final details with his club,” L’Equipe report on Tuesday night.

“Lyon’s leaders convinced West Ham with a paid loan offer until the end of the season (around €5 million = £4.5m), accompanied by a non-obligatory purchase option (around €10 million – £8.5m), this Tuesday.”

We reported earlier about a claim from a David Moyes confidant that Benrahma has taken matters into his own hands by changing agents in a bid to force a move away from West Ham.
