It has been an utterly depressing transfer window so far for David Moyes and West Ham United.

Moyes is working with both arms tied behind his back this summer having been told he has no money for transfers (Claret & Hugh).

As a result the Scot and West Ham fans have been watching on frustrated as targets join Premier League rivals.

Crystal Palace have reportedly agreed a £16m fee for Moyes’s prime target – QPR star Eberechi Eze (Sky Sports).

The playmaker was reportedly Moyes’s number one target to rejuvenate West Ham’s stale creative options from central midfield (Evening Standard).

Sky Sports claims the two strikers being eyed by West Ham – Brentford’s Ollie Watkins and Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson – could both end up at newly-promoted Fulham.

Antonee Robinson was also signed by Fulham.

Long shot Malang Sarr has been snapped up by Chelsea on a free transfer. And they don’t even intend on playing him yet (Chelsea FC).

Hammers either inactive or incapable of landing targets

Another free agent, Moyes’s fellow Scot Ryan Fraser, is said to be on the verge of a move to Newcastle – read full story here.

And defender Shane Duffy reportedly only has eyes for a move to Celtic, despite their Champions League exit this week (Celtic Star).

But believe it or not West Ham fans there may be some hope yet.

According to Sky Sports News’s daily transfer round up the Hammers are still in the market for a striker.

With only Sebastien Haller and injury-prone Michail Antonio left at the club West Ham are dicing with death going into a Premier League season leaving themselves so short.

It was bad enough last term but now both Albian Ajeti and Jordan Hugill have been sold it is bordering on negligible.

So it was reassuring to hear – albeit excruciatingly briefly – on Sky Sports News that West Ham want another forward.

The channel’s daily round up show covers all 20 Premier League clubs.

And transfer guru Dharmesh Sheth made the supposed revelation when it came to the West Ham section.

It was a case of blink and you will miss it. Rather embarrassingly West Ham’s section took up just five seconds of the 3 minute 12 sec round-up.

“West Ham United are still in the market for a forward after missing out to Crystal Palace for Ebere Eze,” Sheth said on Sky Sports News.

So there you have it West Ham fans. The first bit of remotely positive transfer news for what seems an eternity.

Whether there is any semblance of truth behind it remains to be seen.

But it would be tantamount to footballing suicide if Moyes goes into this season with no reinforcements in defence or attack.
