West Ham United target Aaron Ramsey has reportedly turned down a move to Premier League rivals Newcastle United.
West Ham and Newcastle face each other at the London Stadium in the opening game of the season on September 12th.
But the Hammers and Magpies have been butting heads in the transfer market before that clash.
West Ham missed out to Newcastle for Jeff Hendrick and in the battle for Matty Longstaff – read full story here.
West Ham and Newcastle linked with former Gunner Ramsey
The two clubs are also said to be in for free agent Ryan Fraser (The Sun).
West Ham have been linked with a move for Juventus outcast Ramsey in recent weeks (Wales Online).
Ramsey is said to be surplus to requirements under new Juve boss Andrea Pirlo.
Cash-strapped West Ham have told David Moyes he must sell to buy this summer. And as yet there are no new faces through the door at West Ham.
Newcastle are also interested in Ramsey according to TuttoJuve.
Italian transfer guru claims Welshman has rejected Magpies
Now Italian football transfer guru Nicolo Schira has had his say on Newcastle’s attempts to sign Ramsey.
Schira’s name is well known to West Ham fans. He broke the news of Sebastien Haller’s record £45million move to West Ham from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer.
And Schira may have given West Ham hope they can still land Ramsey – if indeed Moyes is interested – after claiming the playmaker has rejected the Magpies advances.
“Newcastle have shown interest for Aaron Ramsey last week,” Schira said on Twitter.
“Magpies have opened talks with Juventus to sign the Welsh midfielder, but Ramsey has rejected the bid.”

A risky signing for either club
Perhaps Ramsey only wants a return to London, where he spent 11 years at Arsenal, if he does move back to England.
At 29, with a concerning injury history and likely on big wages, Ramsey would be something of a risk for either West Ham or Newcastle.
But as the window drags on don’t be surprised if the midfielder becomes available on loan.
talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan recently suggested that Ramsey ‘sounds like a West Ham acquisition’ (August 11th, 12pm).
He is on the outskirts at Juve after struggling to impress with the Turin giants. Ramsey scored four goals and provided just one assist in 35 games last season (Transfermarkt).
