David Moyes was dealt another transfer blow when West Ham United missed out on free agent Malang Sarr to Chelsea.
Former West Ham star has recommended £20m striker to Hammers
Moyes has made no secret of the fact he is desperate to bolster West Ham’s defence this summer (Evening Standard).
Former Nice defender Sarr has been heavily linked with the cash-strapped Hammers having left the French club as a free agent (FC Inter News).

Chelsea beat West Ham to free agent Sarr
But London rivals Chelsea made the 21-year-old West Ham target their fifth signing of the summer on Thursday (Chelsea FC).
With Chelsea in the mix it was always going to be an uphill battle for West Ham to compete for Sarr’s signature.
But there is still hope West Ham might be able to get the supremely talented French Under 21 star on loan.
That’s after the Blues confirmed Sarr will spend the 2020/21 season out on loan to “provide the chance to gain valuable game time and add to his experience so he will be ready to join our squad” (Chelsea FC).
Former West Ham academy graduate turned Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will surely want Sarr to gain Premier League experience.

Hammers could still land Sarr on loan after Blues move
And he may see defensive-minded Hammers boss David Moyes as the perfect manager to hone Sarr’s defensive skills.
Whether Lampard will sanction a loan move for Sarr to West Ham remains to be seen.
But given West Ham’s keen interest in Sarr and the fact the Hammers have not got funds for transfers it seems a deal that could suit all parties.
Sarr would be able to remain in London and get settled in before linking up with Chelsea fully from the 2021/22 season.
